About Elem
Our Vision
To be the leading body in Israel for assisting and accompanying at-risk youth and young adults. To meet them in all areas of life where they are and help them cope with a wide range of distresses, starting from personal crisis situations of normative youth in adolescence, through dropping out of educational frameworks, integration difficulties, social difficulties, family problems, questions regarding sexual identity, religious identity and belonging, drug and alcohol addiction, violence and delinquency, sexual exploitation, sexual abuse of other youth and children, up to severe disconnection situations such as involvement in prostitution and homelessness.

Presence and Connection
To help at-risk youth and young adults, we must first be there for them and not wait for them to seek help. We meet them on the street, online, in schools, in leisure spaces, in emergencies, day and night. Above all is the human connection. Consistent, accessible, and non-judgmental presence is the basis for building trust and for any process of growth and rehabilitation.
Respect and Belief in Strengths
Elem sees every boy, girl, and young adult as a person with abilities, strengths, desires, and potential for growth and development. Even in complex situations of distress and risk, we operate from a belief in the ability of youth and young adults to influence their lives, make decisions about their future, and realize their potential.
Belonging and Community
The fight against loneliness, disconnection, and exclusion is at the heart of Elem’s work. We strive to create safe and accepting spaces where youth and young adults can experience belonging, meaning, and value, and build positive relationships with their peers, the community, and significant adults. This also enables the rebuilding of trust, hope, and a sense of belonging to society.
Social Responsibility and Changing Reality
Elem is committed not only to individual support for youth and young adults but also to broad action to change the reality in which they live. Based on deep familiarity with the field, the organization works to promote policy, raise social issues to the public agenda, develop innovative solutions, and influence the education, welfare, health, and community systems. Our responsibility, as employees and volunteers, is towards every boy and girl, but also towards Israeli society as a whole.
